About Ann:
Ann Dunkin serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). In this role, Ms. Dunkin leads the department’s technology modernization efforts, including initiatives in cybersecurity, data management, and the innovative application of AI and quantum computing. She ensures DOE’s technology infrastructure supports its mission to advance clean energy, scientific research, and national security.

Prior to joining DOE, Ann held various leadership roles in the federal government, including CIO of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during the Obama administration, where she championed IT transformation and modernization. Her contributions earned her recognition as a leader in public-sector technology innovation.

Ann’s career began in the private sector at Hewlett-Packard, where she was deeply influenced by the “HP Way,” a philosophy emphasizing teamwork, leadership, and customer focus. This foundation shaped her collaborative leadership style and commitment to operational excellence.
